Several days ago, we introduced our newest employee, Danielle Parker. Today, we’d like to tell you a bit about one of our associate instructors, soundman Darcel Walker.
Darcel teaches field audio recording here at SFSDF and has worked on two of Fog City Pictures’ feature films, AROUND JUNE and MOONLIGHT SONATA. When he’s not out in the field checking mics and waiting for planes to finish flying overhead, he’s working on any number of shorts, commercials and other audio endeavors. His bio goes a little like this…
As the audio guru for Funky Tiki, LLC, Darcel ensures top quality audio on all film, video and television projects. He studied at the prestigious California Recording Institute, where he specialized in Location Sound/audio engineering. He has over eight hundred hours of Field Sound Mixing and is one of the most sought after Bay Area Field Audio Techs. Darcel has over 20 feature film credits as well as numerous broadcast & cable industry assignments that include the History Channel, Discovery Channel, CBS, ABC and the BBC. He is also the founder of the proposed Art & Music News Network (AMN-Your Source for Art and Music News-The CNN of the Arts World) and the proposed IndieLove.tv film festival (a Global Cineplex).
With all the work with which Darcel is busy, it is the IndieLove.tv initiative that is our favorite. We asked Darcel to tell us a bit more about the ambitious web-based indie film channel.
What is IndieLove.TV?
IndieLove.tv is a Global Cineplex that will showcase independent films simultaneously on broadcast television and the Web giving the filmmaker instant global exposure. Indielove.tv film festival is a 30-minute show running once a week on KRON-TV (and on MY Network TV affiliates) with a Bay Area viewership of over 2.4 million. The show will provide a new revenue stream for the independent filmmaker and provide distributors with 24-hour access to your work. The show will feature interviews with directors and producers which provides the viewers the opportunity to learn about them. Indielove.tv will provide shared viewer ship with the ability for real-time interaction with someone in another part of the world.
With a solid website in works and a great demo on-deck, it looks like IndieLove.tv is on the right track. Give the video to the right a quick watch to get a feel for what Darcel is going for. The clip covers the short film, SHADOW ANGEL, a product of five SFSDF alumni (Chris Smith, Heather Donnell, Khen Shomron, Patrick Eggert, Christopher F. Smith) and one current student (Robert Goc) and featured SFSDF Film Acting instructor, Jeffrey Weissman. The film was previously covered here.
Be sure to read this great article on Darcel in Cinesource Magazine.
