“Exhausted but Satisfied”
Last week’s 24 Film Race started off with a bang. Most of Class 11, Bill from Class 10 and talented Fenny the editor gathered at my place when, at 10:01pm, the Film Race folks released the theme and prop: Goodbye and a wig. So we were off! Fenny had the wigs, while Chile and the Cameroon mystery women modeled. Josephine, a new student who basically just got off a plane from Cameroon 32 hours earlier, was ready to help.
Tyler on Camera, Bill checking lights and sound (with a Hitchcock-style cameo) , Chile on boom, John on Script, Keith doing a stand-up-job both in front and behind the couch. Brian from the night class gave me an actress referral that worked out great also.
Mr. Bonaparte gripping, with Andrea acting as Second AD. She took care of most of the paperwork for the shoot. Harmony, Sam, James, Christopher, Stephen and Milena all giving moral support. 3am; We were just starting to groove and close to Part Two of set up. 6-ish; Here comes the sun. We put blankets up and kept the tape rolling. This whole time we were shooting on two tapes, so when a scene was done we gave it to Fenny to lay down in FCP. 9:30AM the shooting wrapped. We shot for almost 9 hours straight. All of the crew did a great job. Plus, we had fun!
We took a 3 hour break. 1 hour of that to clean the house and a 2 hour nap. 2:00pm till 9:10pm Script review with Editor, then we sat like editing tom a toms. At the end, I got a little freaked about output issues but Fenny calmed me down and we output. 9:26pm we deliver the goods and find out only 4 others teams out of 26 dropped off DVDs at that time. It was very tasty and satisfying dropping that off. Knowing that we all had a hand in this pie gave it a better taste.
