It’s always interesting to reach out to past SFSDF students to see what they are up to. Recently, we were able to catch up with filmmaker Chet Patterson who took the 5-Week Documentary Filmmaking Workshop in the summer of 2007. Patterson’s short film, ‘Lanesplitting’, won a Best of Festival award at the Berkeley Video and Film Festival in 2007.
About the film:
California is the only state in the U.S. that allows lanesplitting – when motorcyclists weave in-between cars in congested traffic. ‘Lanesplitting’ explores commonly held beliefs and facts behind this phenomenon. Watch the film here.
Chet has a couple things going on right now. His primary gig is at Acme Spots, a commercial production house in Sausalito, California.
“For Acme Spots, I play multiple roles, although all of it is in the post-production world. I edit, send spots to TV stations around the country, direct/record voice-over sessions, pick background music, I encode and post video to the web and do a million other things, as needed,” said Patterson.
Clients include Bank of America, Blue Shield of California, DirecTV and others. Check out some of their work here
Chet also has his own production company – Starving Fish Productions – where he is typically the pre-editor (producer/editor) for a variety of projects. From video production and editing to CD/DVD authoring and website development, Starving Fish Productions is a full-service video production company and then some.
